Mitch Shedlowsky was honored as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
The Albion College junior from Waterford, Mich., threw a two-hit shutout with a career-high 11 strikeouts in a 4-0 victory over Trine University on Sunday.
Shedlowsky didn't allow Trine to have many scoring chances. He retired the first six batters in order, getting three strikeouts. Zach Schulte hit a leadoff single in the third, but he never got past second base as Shedlowsky got Chase Hall and Colton Conn to strikeout. Jacob Heller hit a one out double in the fifth, but he was thrown out at third to end the inning.
Shedlowsky retired the last six batters in order, including striking out the side in the seventh, to finish his second complete game shutout of the season.
