The cold, rainy weather Oct. 13 made for challenging horse show conditions at Western Michigan University, but the Albion College hunt seat team banded together and pulled off a fifth place finish of the 13 teams present.
Team co-captain Miranda Voege (Carmel, Ind./Park Tudor) and new team member Caroline Bearss (Perrysburg, Ohio/Maumee Valley Country Day School) led the team with wins in open fences and in advanced walk-trot-canter, respectively. First-year rider Paige Beliveau (West Newbury, Mass./Saint Thomas Aquinas) made her debut over fences to a second place finish in the novice division while classmate Ann Armstrong (Janesville, Wis./George Parker) earned a second in beginner walk-trot-canter.
Melanie Fodera (Troy/Troy) made her debut for the Britons in the walk-trot division and netted a fifth place finish to get her horse show career underway.
The Britons won't show again until Nov. 3 when they meet up with their regional opponents at the University of Michigan.
