The Briton hunt seat team is racking up some important points this season, and at the doubleheader competition hosted by the University of Michigan on Nov. 3-4, the riders added to their successes.
Team captain Miranda Voege (Carmel, Ind./Park Tudor) won first place in the open on the flat division on the first day of competition. Fellow rider Kayleigh Harvey (Ada/Forest Hills Eastern) also took home a win in her novice on the flat class. Heather Waldron (Burt Lake/Petoskey) was awarded two second places in the intermediate division, both on the flat and over fences, and first-year student Claire Tillman (West Olive/Grand Haven) took home second place in advanced walk-walk-trot-canter. The Briton team ended up in fifth place overall at the end of the day.
The team improved on the second day of competition and finished as champions. Contributing to the overall win were Voege and Brittney Stanton (Rochester Hills/Rochester Adams) who both won their open on the flat classes. Sarah Erdman (Portage/Portage Central) captured second place in the intermediate over fences class. Proving her consistency, Waldron was again awarded second place in the intermediate flat, and she won her intermediate over fences division. Katie Pickworth (Columbus, Ohio/Columbus School for Girls) added a second place finish in the Walk-Trot class.
Another notable, first-year student Ann Armstrong (Janesville, Wis./George Parker) was able to move up another level to advanced walk-trot-canter on the second day of the show.
