HARRISBURG, Pa. – On the last day of classes in her undergraduate career, Albion College senior Brittney Stanton was in a different kind of class far from campus. On May 1, she was competing at the open over fences class at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Championships.
Although Stanton ended up placing beyond the reach of a ribbon, she and coach Randi Gardner described the experience as being exciting and worthwhile. To have made it that far in the season and to become the first Briton hunt seat rider to make it to Nationals was a feat in itself.
After qualifying to compete at Nationals, Stanton received the Heathman Most Valuable Rider Award, presented to hunt seat team's MVP.
