Fourth Quarter Stops Britons

ALBION, Mich. – The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point outscored Albion College, 19-3, in the fourth quarter to pull out a 33-19 victory in a non-conference football game at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.

Kyle Winchell, a senior tight end from Homer, hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from first-year quarterback Kyle Thomas as Albion took a 16-14 lead with 53 seconds left in the third quarter.

The Pointers answered by scoring touchdowns on their next three possessions. Zach Bosek ran in from 7 yards out and Ryan Swigart threw a pair of touchdown passes (27 yards to Jerry Williams and 39 yards to Steve Herra).

A turning point of the game occurred two plays after Bosek scored to put the Pointers ahead 20-16 with 14 minutes to play. Albion lost a fumble on its 27 yard line and Swigart found Williams for the score on the next play as the Stevens Point lead ballooned to 27-16 with 13:08 to play.

Andrew Fabry kicked a pair of field goals (28 and 39 yards) and Zach Serzo added a 29-yard touchdown run for Albion.

Thomas finished the night with 127 rushing yards and he added 112 yards through the air. Serzo finished with 70 yards on the ground.

Linebacker Jose Rodriguez led the Albion defense with 16 tackles. Patrick Czarnecki was credited with 13 tackles.

Albion continues non-conference play at home next Saturday against Concordia (Wis.) University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
