OLIVET, Mich. – Albion College gained 183 yards in the first quarter, but it managed 141 for the rest of the game in a 47-26 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Olivet College.

The teams traded scores for the first 16 minutes of the game.

Albion scored on Andrew Fabry's 22-yard field goal, Patrick Czarnecki's 3-yard touchdown run and Kyle Thomas' 30-yard touchdown pass to Brian Blanzy.

Olivet scored on big plays as Lane Porter hooked up with Jacob Jodway for touchdowns of 92 and 56 yards.

Jerome Washington gave Olivet the lead for good with a 52-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter.

Porter added a 26-yard pass to Kornelius Saxton as the Comets held a 27-17 lead at halftime.

Washington tacked on a 14-yard run and Porter scored from 1 and 5 yards out for the Comets in the second half.

Albion's second half scoring came from Jakob Wickens' 98-yard interception return on a point after touchdown attempt and Doug Freeman's 13-yard run.

Czarnecki finished with a career-high 100 rushing yards on 15 carries. Thomas added 64 rushing and 141 passing yards. Blanzy was Albion's leading receiver with six receptions for 84 yards.

Geordon Carter led the Albion defense with 15 tackles.

Albion will host Alma College for Homecoming next Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 o'clock on the Schmidt-Fraser Field inside Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.
