Men's Soccer Off To Winning Start

HIRAM, Ohio – Kay Whitmore buried a breakaway goal 7 ½ minutes into overtime to lift Albion College to a 2-1 victory over Hiram (Ohio) College in a non-league men's soccer match.

Brady Brown and Kyle Johnson sent passes to Whitmore to gain credit for the assists on the game-winning strike.

Albion achieved a 1-1 tie on Christian Hurtado's unassisted goal in the 58th minute. Hiram seized the lead on John Virag's goal in the 52nd minute.

Albion was the more aggressive team over the final 52 ½ minutes, holding a 10-4 edge in shots. Albion finished the match with a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Maximilian Loria, Albion's goalkeeper, collected two saves in his collegiate debut.

Albion will challenge Westminster (Pa.) in Saturday action.
