FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Kyle Bourlier buried a penalty kick with 14 minutes to play, lifting Albion College to a 1-0 victory over Marian University in a non-conference men's soccer match Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, Albion improves to 2-0-1 with another non-conference match at Lawrence University on tap tomorrow.
It was Bourlier's ninth career goal and his second game-winner. The Britons were awarded the penaluty kick when a hand ball was called against a Marian defender.
First-year goalkeeper Maximilian Loria collected two saves to gain the first shutout of his collegiate career. Loria received support from defenders Sam Coleman, Jonathon Daily, Kyle Johnson and Joel Zaretti.
"All four backs and the goalkeeper did a good job of neutralizing their offensive threats," Albion Coach Wytse Molenaar said.
The box score reports Albion controlled the contest, with a 12-5 advantage in shots. Bourlier took four shots for the Britons. Daniel Akhimien also placed two shots on goal.
