SAGINAW, Mich. – Albion College started the indoor track & field season strong at the Saginaw Valley Holiday Classic.

Senior thrower Andrew Strzelecki heaved the weight throw 14.69 meters to set a new school record in the event.

Strzelecki wasn't the only thrower to set a great mark as first-year student-athlete Kejuan Frazier sent the shot put 13.96 meters.

In the jumps, junior Richard Annorat and first-year Trevor Knowles each cleared 1.88 meters in the high jump. Junior Jephte Jean Claude flew 13.40 meters in the triple jump.

On the track, junior Markeese Boyd ran a 52.73 in the 400 meters. Sophomore Kiehl Smith was the runner-up in the mile run with a 4:22.39 and the men's 4x400 meter relay (Boyd, Shane Mills, Smith, and Knowles) wrapped up the meet with a strong time of 3:34.44.

"I was very happy with how everyone competed," said Albion College coach Lance Coleman, "Being such a young team, I was pleased to see how they shook off the nerves and competed."

The Britons will return to action early next year.
