Albion College sophomore Andrew Bill has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Male Runner of the Week for the second time this season.
A sophomore from Berkley, Mich., Bill was the top Division III runner (and 11th overall) in the Spartan Invitational at Michigan State University last Friday. He completed the 8K course in 25:32.1.
"Andrew had a phenomenal race," Albion Coach Derick Lawrence said. "He raced smart and made the right moves to progressively move up in the race. He finished ahead of many individuals that beat him in high school just a year and a half ago and those same individuals were some of the best runners in the state of Michigan, and even the nation, in high school."
With Bill leading the way, Albion would have placed sixth overall out of 27 teams, if team standings had been kept regardless of division. Albion would have finished ahead of the Division II teams from Hillsdale College, Saginaw Valley State University, Ferris State University, and Northwood University.
Albion will get its first look at its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals Saturday when it travels to Holland, Mich., for the MIAA Jamboree.
