ELSAH, Ill. – Andrew Bill is an All-American at the midpoint of his collegiate cross country career.
The Albion College sophomore from Berkley, Mich., finished 39th in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships at the North Farm Cross Country Course. He completed the 8K track in 24:59.64.
While the conditions were vastly different from those he encountered on a warm October afternoon for the Pre-National meet, Bill completed the North Farm Course nearly a minute faster.
"To finish as Albion's first men's All-American in cross country is such a great achievement," Albion Coach Derick Lawrence said. "He finished 101st in this meet last year – a big jump on the national stage. He is ready and excited to continue to make more improvements on the national stage. He has quickly made his mark on the Albion program and it will be exciting to see what's in store for his future.
"The strategy was to be conservative for the first mile and gradually work his way up in the race," Lawrence added. "A primary focus was powering up the hills and passing runners on those. He looked strong the entire way."
