Women's Soccer Stopped By John Carroll

ALBION, Mich. – Though it played with more energy in the second half, Albion College could not make up for two goals scored by Bailey Fischer in the first half as the Britons walked off Alumni Field with a 2-0 loss to John Carroll University in non-conference women's soccer action.

Fischer's first strike in the 15th minute from the left side of the field bent over the shoulder of Albion goalkeeper Maggie Troost. She added a goal assisted by Jaclyn Audino in the 24th minute.

Albion finished the contest with eight shots, with four of them on goal. Jenna Urso had the best scoring opportunity as her blast was initially dropped by John Carroll goalkeeper Rhianna Guarnera. Guarnera recovered just in time to stop the ball from going over the goal line.

Riley Burnette, Sarah Castellano and Molly Hancock also placed shots on goal.

Albion, 1-1 overall, will host Hope College on Wednesday for its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener.
