Albion secures home field advantage for MIAA Tournament match

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College secured home field advantage for a first round match in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Tournament when it gained a 1-1 draw against Calvin College on Saturday.

With a 4-2-1 record against MIAA rivals and 13 points in the standings, Albion can finish no worse than fourth in the league. The Britons complete the regular season with a 7 p.m. Wednesday home match against Adrian College.

Riley Burnette scored the Albion goal – her third of the season – in the 22nd minute.

Samantha LaRocca dished out the assist. She has produced a goal or assist in five of the seven matches Albion has played against MIAA rivals.

Jessica Paulson scored the equalizer for Calvin nearly eight minutes after Burnette's goal.

Both goalkeepers (Albion's Megan Bricely and Calvin's Amy Kliewer) collected five saves.
