Lauren Rasmussen has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Player of the Week in women's tennis.
A senior captain who prepped at Saline High School, Rasmussen won her singles and doubles matches to help Albion College score a 6-3 victory over Wittenberg (Ohio) University last Saturday. After achieving an 8-2 victory with teammate Chrissy Gauss at No. 1 doubles, Rasmussen played an intense singles match with the first two sets extended to tie-breakers 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (5-7) before she emerged victorious in the 10-point tie break for the third set (11-9).
It's the second time Rasmussen has been selected as the MIAA's Player of the Week. She was tabbed for the award the first week of the week of the 2016 season.
The Britons have two matches set for the weekend, a Friday home date against Concordia (Mich.) University and a Sunday contest at Lawrence Tech.
