Johnson, Vince gain MIAA awards in women's track & field

A pair from Albion College – Jessica Johnson and Cassandra Vince – have been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Athletes of the Week in indoor track & field in the wake of their performance in the Saginaw Valley Holiday Classic last Saturday.

A sophomore from Eaton Rapids, Mich., Johnson achieved the second-best performance in school history in the shot put at 37' 4". It was a personal record for her.

Vince, a junior from Amherst, Ohio, was the first runner to complete the 5,000 meters. Her school record time, 17:24.21, currently places her ninth among Division III runners at this point of the season.

Albion's next indoor competition is Jan. 11 at Calvin College.
