BOSTON – Cassie Vince achieved her second All-America performance of the 2018-2019 academic year Friday night.
The Albion College senior was the fifth woman to finish the 5,000 meters in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. She completed her race in 16:48.92.
The Great Lakes Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year as selected by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association of America, Vince enjoyed a remarkable indoor track season. She posted the second-fastest times on the Division III performance list in the mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters prior to the NCAA Championships. Her qualifying time (16:27.99) is the fifth-fastest all-time by a Division III women's runner.
"Cassie ran a great race," Albion Head Coach Lance Coleman said. "This caps off one of the greatest indoor track seasons by an Albion runner. We are looking forward to an equally great outdoor season."
A product of Amherst, Ohio, Vince earned her first All-America award in November with a 10th place finish in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship.
First-year thrower ShaQuoria Thompson will make her debut in the NCAA Championships tomorrow morning when she enters the ring for the shot put competition.
