Four men's swimmers gain Scholar All-America status

Len Ciemniecki, Jake Huttenlocher, Tyler Kimbrell and Nate Kozycki represent the Albion College men's swimming & diving team on the list of Scholar All-Americans announced by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.

The award recognizes student-athletes who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed in the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.

All four Britons gained all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association status during the 2019 season.

A business major, Ciemniecki was an honorable mention All-American in the 200-yard medley relay. The rising senior is a product of Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Mich.

Huttenlocher, the MIAA champion in the 200 individual medley, is a rising senior from Shelby Township, Mich. The finance major who is a member of Albion's Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management prepped at De La Salle Collegiate.

The three-time MIAA champion in the breaststroke events, Kimbrell was an honorable mention All-Americans in the medley relay. A product of Milan, Mich., Kimbrell is an accounting major and member of the Gerstacker Institute.

A May graduate with a degree in exercise science, Kozycki was the MIAA champion in the 100 butterfly and he was an honorable mention All-American in the medley relay. He was from Grand Rapids, Mich., and a graduate of Northview High School.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
