Brett de Bear added to the already impressive list of awards from the 2013-2014 basketball season Wednesday when she was placed on the Basketball Coaches of Michigan Academic-Athletic Team.
An English major from Plymouth, Mich., de Bear boasts a 3.66 grade point average and has achieved distinction on the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Academic Honor Roll.
On the court, de Bear achieved all-MIAA first team status this season. She scored 450 points in her senior campaign to finish her career with 1,249 points, a figure that ranks second-most in school history. She was the best free throw shooter in the MIAA, knocking down 86 percent of her opportunities from the line.
"To me, Brett epitomizes the true meaning of student-athlete," Albion Head Coach Doreen Carden said. "I am happy for Brett to receive yet another award, especially one that recognizes her academic and athletic accomplishments."
