Stage is set for interesting MIAA women's golf finish

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's golf fall finale is going to be interesting.

Albion College finished fifth in the league's fourth jamboree at the Milham Park Golf Club on Saturday, dropping the Britons into fourth place in the MIAA standings after 72 holes.

After achieving a 349 total on Saturday, the Britons hold a two-stroke lead over Alma College in the race for fourth place in the overall standings. The top four teams after the fall finale advance to rounds in the spring to decide the MIAA's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Championship.

The Britons trail third-place Calvin College by just four strokes.

The MIAA fall finale is scheduled for next weekend with Friday and Saturday rounds at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.

Megan Moco and Madison Kroetsch led Albion's effort at Kalamazoo. Moco tied for 10th among all players with a round of 83, while Kroetsch was a stroke behind.

Sydney Cohn (90) and Bailey Downs (92) also contributed to Albion's team score.

Playing as an individual where her score did not count toward Albion's team score, Anika Krishnan finished among the top 15 with a round of 86.
