Three women's swimmers gain Scholar All-America status

Allison Dasky, Rileigh Eding and Hannah Erickson represent the Albion College women's swimming & diving team on the list of Scholar All-Americans produced by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.

The award recognizes student-athletes who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed in the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.

All three Britons were honorable mention All-Americans in the pool in 2019, finishing 14th in the 200-yard freestyle relay in the NCAA meet.

A rising sophomore from Fenton, Mich., who prepped at Powers Catholic, Dasky was a member of the 200 and 400 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams that set Albion records during the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships in 2019. She is majoring in business.

Eding, a rising senior from Hamilton, Mich., is majoring in exercise science along with being a member of Albion's Wilson Institute for Medicine. She was an all-MIAA pick after finishing as the league runner up in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle and 400 medley relay events and the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Eding owns the Albion records in all four relay events and she lowered the standard in the 50 freestyle to 23.82 seconds in 2019.

A biology major from Birmingham, Mich., and Seaholm High School, Erickson was an all-MIAA pick as a member of the Albion record freestyle relay teams and with a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle in the league championship meet.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email
