ANGOLA, Ind. -- In the first MIAA Jamboree of 2021, the Albion College women's indoor track and field team finished third of five teams on Saturday afternoon.
In the conference meet, the Britons competed against Trine, Hope, Calvin and Olivet. Below is a listing of Top 8 finishers for Albion.
Ashley Dubois won the triple jump with a jump of 10.20m. Laura Tuttle took home sixth in the event with a jump of 8.80m.
Freshman Avery Campbell continued to shine, winning both the 60m and 200m dashes. In those same events, Layla Wilks placed third and fourth, respectively.
Samantha Bieth picked up her first collegiate win in the 800m run with a time of 2:31.98. She also finished fourth in the mile run, clocking in at 5:28.54. In the 800, Helena Abbott finished seventh and Eryn Lewis took eighth.
The Brits had three athletes in the top eight in the weight throw. Junior Anna Albaugh finished second with a throw of 14.25m. In fourth place was Sylvia Upthegrove with a throw of 11.64m, while Ashley Booth's throw of 9.77m was good for eighth place. Albaugh added a fourth place finish in the shot put as well (11.17m).
In the 3000m run, sophomore Megan McCulloch was third with a time of 10:39.20.
Lauren McDowell took home a pair of third place finishes -- in the long jump and 400m run.
In the 60m hurdles, Nayaisha Edmond took third while Colette Askins was fourth.
Albion's final indoor meet will take place in two weeks, when they travel to Calvin University for the MIAA Championship. The meet will be held on Friday, March 5. The schedule is subject to change, and as always, we will keep you posted at gobrits.com.
