One of the first on-campus facilities for indoor sports among Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association members, Kresge Gymnasium is Michigan's oldest active intercollegiate athletic facility. Built in 1925, Kresge saw its first event on Jan. 8, 1926, when Albion defeated Olivet in an MIAA men's basketball contest, 30-21.

The facility serves as the home to Briton volleyball, basketball and wrestling after the addition of the men's and women's programs in 2021. In the summer of 2021, the court was redone and provided the volleyball and basketball teams the newest court in the MIAA. On the bottom level, a wrestling practice room was added, with six mats, bikes and televisions for film purposes. The main gym allows a competition mat to be placed where the Britons host dual and tri-meets.

Kresge received a bold new look in 2014 with the addition of graphics celebrating the proud tradition of Briton athletics in the facility. The new graphics honor some of the greatest alumni to compete in the gymnasium, including Cathy Bachinski, ’84, Melissa Wasburn, ’81, Morgan Watler, ’10, Sarah Slamer, ’07, John Nibert, ’79 and former NCAA president Cedric Dempsey, ’54.
