Young Briton Runners Continue To Impress

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A week removed from getting the attention of its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals, Albion College went on to get the attention of the region by running in the Louisville Sports Commission Cross Country Classic.

Known as a pre-national meet, the Britons went to the starting line against some of the top teams in Division III like North Central (Ill.), Pomona-Pitzer and Wabsh.

Albion should receive more respect after finishing ninth.

First-year runners Andrew Bill and James Weekley were separated by just 11 seconds at the finish line. Bill finished 27th, completing the 8K course in 25:49.69. Weekley was 37th in 26:00.66.

Sophomore Andrew Wittland (65th, 26:22.98), first-year runner Adam Ditri (81st, 26:39.69) and junior Alex Dermody (94th, 26:55.19) completed Albion's top five.

Next up for Albion is a fall break trip to Christopher Newport University and an Oct. 11 meet in Gladstone, Va.
