GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Finishing just 53 points behind second place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championship gives the Albion College program reason to be excited about the future.
"We have a women's team that's in an exciting spot," Albion Head Coach Jake Taber said. "We have a team that is eager to continue to improve and willing to make sacrifices in the best interest of the team."
The 400-yard freestyle relay team (Rileigh Eding, Hannah Erickson, Alexandra Horman and Anna Moore) put the exclamation point on the weekend when they achieved a school record (3:32.19) in a runner-up finish.
Individually, Eding added a school record in the 100 freestyle. She touched the wall in 51.96 seconds to win the silver medal. Erickson finished sixth in the championship race.
The 200 butterfly produced a scoring haul with four Britons in the championship race. Horman was third, Sarah Kilbride was fifth, Natalie Seifert was seveth and Alayna Hackman was eighth.
Kaitline Hooper and Katy Henning finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke.
Katie Ferrero was the fourth swimmer to complete the mile, with Megan Harvey finishing eighth.
Anna Moore was fifth to the wall in the 200 backstroke.
