ALBION -- A three minute span in the second half cost the Albion College men's soccer team a home opener win, falling 3-2 to Carroll on Sunday afternoon. The Britons took a 2-0 lead into the half, but a second half letdown hurt the squad.
Albion is now 1-1 on the young season as Carroll improves to 2-1.
In the 18th minute,
Brett Swaton scored his second goal in as many games to give the Brits the early lead. The sophomore's goal came off a pass from
Grady Lycan.Â
The Brits doubled their lead when a long ball played by
Carter Peek found the foot of Stefan Isaveski. The hosts held the 2-0 advantage heading into the second half.Â
Within a three minute period, the Pioneers tacked on three unanswered goals to steal the win from Albion. The goals came after the Pioneers hit the post and the crossbar in the first half.Â
Albion had two chances late, but could not find the equalizer to send the game into overtime.Â

Carson Foor made four saves for the Brits.Â
Carroll outshot the Brits, 20-9 in the match. It was an extremely chippy contest, as the teams combined for 35 fouls.
Albion will be back on their home pitch on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest against Benedictine.
