WLAX snaps losing skid, stays in MIAA Tournament hunt

Kyndall Lewis, Addie Pastor and Aaliyah Eudabe all tallied five points

ALBION – Backed by Kyndall Lewis's career night, the Albion College women's lacrosse team knocked off Kalamazoo College, 13-6. The sophomore was one of three Britons to record five points on the evening, joined by Addie Pastor and Aaliyah Eudabe.

Albion broke out to a 5-1 lead after one period. Pastor started the scoring with her 59th goal of the season off a pass from fellow senior, Olivia Dameron. Dameron then got on the board herself as Pastor found the open Dameron for a 2-0 lead midway through the first.

A Kalamazoo goal was answered by a second strike from Dameron. The Britons then used back to back goals within a minute of each other from Lewis and Logan Hutchinson to take a four goal lead into the first break.

The Hornets outscored the hosts 3-0 in the second, cutting the Albion lead to 5-4 at halftime.

Pastor righted the ship with a man-up free position goal three minutes into the new half. After a long scoring drought from both teams, Hutchinson netted her second of the evening off a pass from Lewis to extend the Briton advantage. Over the final minute of the third, Eudabe scored twice, as Albion led 9-4.

Sophomore Kellie Flynn scored twice within two minutes to start the fourth quarter to build the Albion lead to seven. After a Hornet goal, Lewis answered for the Brits, followed closely by a goal from Angelina Mendieta

Lewis, Pastor and Eudabe all finished with two goals and three assists.

Mendieta and Julia Ames each caused four turnovers, while Ames controlled six draws. Mendieta led the Britons, picking up six ground balls.

In net, freshman Nicole Miller (5-7) made nine saves.

Albion hosts Calvin on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. first draw.
