Women's Swimming and Diving

Swimming competes at MIAA Relays

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In their second competition of the season, the Albion College swimming and diving teams were in action at the MIAA Relays. In an event that was not scored overall, the Britons were able to see how they stack up against the conference early in the year. 

Starting the night with the 200 medley relay, the women's team took third amongst "A" teams in the field. Alexis Glaser, Alyssa Glaser, Mattie Smith and Hannah Fathman swam a 1:54.61. The men's team finished with a time of 1:47.82, made up of Evan Steele, Esteban Sanchez-Sink, Ethan Boersma and Richard Pifer

The women's 200 backstroke relay team of Laurel Campbell, Alyssa Glaser, Olivia Perfili and Kaitlyn Kreb finished with a time of 2:10.12. On the men's side, Albion was fourth with a time of 1:45.46. The men's team was composed of Jalen Hung, Kelvin Crone-Willis, Owen Schaaf and Billy Barr

In the 200 breaststroke relay, Albion finished in 2:13.33 with the team of Sanchez-Sink, Caleb Galvan, Cam Thompson and Pifer. The 500 yard progressive free relay team finished with a time of 4:44.09 (Boersma, Barr, Galvan, Sanchez-Sink).

Taking fourth overall was the women's 200 butterfly relay team of Mikala Muccino, Charlotte Nguyen, Kreb and Fathman (1:54.38). On the men's side, Albion was fifth overall with Crone-Willis, Hung, Schaaf and Steele swimming a 1:43.61.

Albion took second in the mixed 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:43.02. Hung, Smith, Barr and Fathman represented the Britons in the event. 

The Glaser sisters, Kreb and Smith swam in the 400 yard 4x100 IM relay, taking sixth overall. With a time of 4:05.43, the men's team was fifth overall (Hung, Boersma, Sanchez-Sink, Galvan).

Perfili, Muccino, Campbell and Nguyen ended the night in the 200 free relay, clocking a 1:53.25. Thompson, Schaaf, Steele and Crone-Willis competed in the men's event with a time of 1:42.73.

Tomorrow, Albion will swim against Aquinas at 1 p.m., hosted by the Saints.
