HOLLAND, Mich. – In just her second meet as a Briton,
Wen Wadsworth-Curcuru has already left an indelible impression on the Albion swim & dive program.
Fresh off winning MIAA Diver of the Week honors for her performance against Kalamazoo on October 11, the junior transfer from Wayne State notched first place in both the 1 and 3-meter diving events at the MIAA Invitational.
She also earned a qualifying mark for NCAA Division III Regionals in the 3-meter (268.65) after posting Division II qualifying standards during her freshman and sophomore years for the Warriors.
As a team, the Britons placed fifth (208 points) in an event where all MIAA teams were represented at the Holland Aquatic Center hosted by Hope. Hope (815 points) won the event while scoring was conducted like it would be at a championship meet.
Casey Adcock was Albion's best finisher in any swim event, as the freshman took third in the 1,000 freestyle (11:03.19).
Charli Nguyen placed 11
th in the 50 freestyle (25.86), while
Leah Gray notched 14
th in the 200 IM (2:30.87).
Adcock also took fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:01.91).
Lilly Marvin (1:07.21),
Kaitlyn Kreb (1:08.91),
McKinley Levandoski (5:44.23), Gray (6:06.31) and
Alyssa Glaser (1:14.50) placed in the top 15 in the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, respectively.
The 400 freestyle relay quartet of Adcock, Gray, Nguyen and Kreb finished in eighth with a mark of 3:57.25.
Wadsworth-Curcuru notched a 241.55 1-meter score in her victory, while
Mia Carone placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 3-meter (226.70) and 1-meter (211.95).
Alyssa Schafer also finished in the top 10 in the 3-meter (198.80) and 1-meter (180.20).
