ALBION, Mich. – A beautiful, sunny early October evening at Alumni Field matched the spectacular play of the Albion men's soccer team.
They bested Great Lakes Christian, 4-0, in their non-conference finale while allowing just two shots as a defensive unit.
Esteban Mercado got the party going six minutes into the match on a cross from
Jasek Zielaskowski to get the Britons on the board.
Seven minutes later,
Khalil Camara found the back of the net gathering the ball with his left foot in the air before striking on a pass near the box from
Ivan Murillo for a 2-0 advantage.
The Britons added a goal with 39 seconds left in the half on a breakaway pass from
Tristen Spettel that
Xavier Yuille chased down and buried to give Albion a 3-0 lead at the break.
Another score for good measure came in the second half, as Zielaskowski tacked one on off a throw in during the 63rd minute.
Albion had 22 shots while recording 11 corner kick opportunities compared to zero for the Crusaders.
