ALBION, Mich. -- The Albion men's soccer team kept their strong momentum going, as they defeated Frankin, 7-0, on a humid, overcast day at Alumni Field.
It was the most goals the Britons have scored in a shutout since their 7-0 win over Heidelberg in 2022 and the first time the Albion defense had given up no goals in three consecutive matches since 2009.
Albion got it going early in the match, as
Esteban Mercado struck for the first score just five minutes in on a pass from
Ivan Murillo.
Then with about four minutes to go in the half,
Xavier Yuille received a feed from
Ryan Anderson and buried it for the 2-0 advantage.
A trio of scores came within a three-minute span early in the second half.Â
Robin Ruigendijk found the net two minutes into the stanza and then struck again three minutes later on a pass from
Alex Bugingo to make it 4-0.
Murillo tacked on another Briton score just 22 seconds later to add to their 5-0 advantage, and for good measure, Mercado added his second goal of the afternoon in the 80th minute while Yuille found the back of the net four minutes later to complete the scoring.
Albion outshot the Grizzlies, 33-3, and 18 players came off the bench for the Britons.
