Britons Rally Late Past Aquinas in Overtime Thriller

ALBION, Mich. – A dramatic late comeback lifted the Albion women's lacrosse team to a 16-15 overtime victory over Aquinas College on a cool and windy night at Alumni Field.

In a game that was determined by momentum swings, Albion used a strong offensive push late in regulation before sealing the win in overtime. The Britons finished with a 36-30 advantage in shots, while Aquinas controlled the draw circle with a slight edge in draw controls.

Albion came out firing in the opening quarter, scoring five unanswered goals to build a 5-1 lead. Abbey Scott led the early surge with two goals, while Lauren Thomas, Anna Huard, and senior Logan Hutchinson each added tallies to cap a dominant first frame.

Aquinas responded in the second quarter with a nine-goal run to take control of the contest. Despite the momentum shift, Abbey Scott completed her hat trick late in the half to keep Albion within striking distance heading into the break.

The third quarter turned into a defensive battle, with both teams slowing the pace. Aquinas managed to extend its lead slightly, but Thomas continued to power the Britons' offense, adding three goals during the stretch to keep Albion close.

Trailing 15-11 with just over four minutes remaining in regulation, Albion delivered its strongest push of the night. The Britons scored four straight goals to even the score at 15-15, forcing overtime and energizing the home crowd.

Carrying the momentum into the extra frame, Albion controlled possession early before Thomas found the back of the net for the game-winning goal, securing the 16-15 comeback victory.
