LITTLE RIVER, S.C. — The Albion softball team split their games on day two of their spring training trip, defeating Penn College, 10–2, before falling to Lycoming, 7–5.
Game 1 vs. Penn College
The Britons came ready to play in the first inning , scoring two runs thanks to an RBI double from Lilly Zaskowski. Zaskowski was dominant throughout the game both at the plate and in the circle, finishing with eight strikeouts and three RBIs.
Albion continued the momentum in the third inning, adding two more runs to extend the lead to 4–0. Jessie Anstandig doubled to left field to score Ryley Frank, and Allie Trantham reached on a fielder's choice that brought Anstandig home.
Penn College answered with two runs to cut the deficit to 4–2, but their offense stalled for the remainder of the game. The Britons capitalized, adding one run in the fifth and five more in the sixth to secure the 10–2 victory.
A great overall team effort on the offensive side for the Britons ended with a total of eleven hits and nine RBIs.
Game 2 vs. Lycoming
Albion dropped a tough 7–5 decision to Lycoming in their second game of the day.
The Britons started strong, holding Lycoming scoreless in the first while taking an early 1–0 lead. However, Lycoming responded with three runs in the second, three more in the third, and another in the fourth to take a 7–1 advantage.
Albion fought back in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs to cut the deficit to 7–5. Jessie Anstandig doubled down the left-field line to get into scoring position before Cameron McDonald singled to drive her in. Freshman Kaitlyn Rusenlink delivered a key triple to right-center field that brought two runners home, and Kiersten Wilkin added a sacrifice fly for Albion's fifth run.
Albion held Lycoming scoreless for the remainder of the game but was unable to generate additional offense.

Albion will continue its spring training trip on March 10 at 9 a.m. against Penn State Schuylkill, followed by a 1 p.m. matchup with Delaware Valley.
