Kacie Miller has resigned as director of tennis at Albion. A national search for her replacement will begin promptly.
"I would like to thank Kacie for her dedication and commitment to our tennis programs," Albion director of athletics
Jennifer Rushton said. "Kacie has positively impacted a countless number of student-athletes during her 11 years at Albion. I wish Kacie and her family all the best in this next chapter."
Miller guided both the men's and women's tennis programs since the summer of 2016 and won a combined 100 matches. This season, the men's team qualified for the MIAA Tournament for the first time since 2014.
Under her tutelage, Miller guided a combined three All-MIAA selections, three MIAA scholar-athlete award winners, one MIAA sportsmanship award recipient and 38 MIAA Athlete of the Weeks within the programs. Additionally, Miller's teams were stellar in the classroom as she coached 10 ITA All-Academic squads and 68 ITA Scholar Athletes. She served as an assistant coach for the two programs during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons before taking over as head coach.
Miller is a 2013 graduate of Ferris State and a 2009 graduate of nearby Parma Western High School. She holds multiple tennis teaching and coaching certifications through various national and international organizations, including the United States Professional Tennis Association, Professional Tennis Registry and the United States Tennis Association. Albion Hall of Fame coach Scott Frew got Miller started in tennis as he taught lessons to her on campus as a child.
"In my 11 years at Albion, I have been fortunate to have met so many wonderful student-athletes and colleagues who have made an impact on my life," Miller said. "After growing up playing tennis on these courts and spending a third of my life coaching here, it feels like a full circle moment to be leaving in order to spend more time with my own children. I'm so proud of our program and what we've accomplished, and I know both the men's and women's tennis teams are going to keep growing stronger and have continued success. I am so grateful for my time at Albion, and I will forever be cheering for the Brits!"
