Emily Eaton A four time Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American and three time All-American has been added to the Albion College swimming & diving coaching staff.

Emily Eaton, a 2015 graduate of Grand Valley State University, joins the Britons as an assistant coach for the 2016-2017 season.

“From the first time we spoke to Emily we felt like she was going to be a rising star in college coaching.  She was everything we were looking for in this process,” Albion Head Coach Jake Taber said. “She’s young, ambitious, resourceful and has been successful everywhere she’s been. I think she has a coaching mindset and is eager to learn. When you pair that combination of traits with a great work ethic, there is a lot of reason to be very excited about the contributions she will make to the Albion College swimming & diving program in the years to come.”

In addition to achieving All-America status in all three freestyle relay events, Eaton holds top 10 times in several events at GVSU and she was a member of the school record 400 freestyle relay team.

Eaton got her start in the coaching profession in 2012 as assistant swim coach at Genesys Athletic Club in Grand Blanc. She was elevated to head coach in 2014 where the team finished second, achieving its best ever finish in the conference. Through a self-developed high intensity program, Eaton’s teams have achieved a dual meet championship and for the past three years the team has finished second at the Interclub Championships.

Eaton said she created the high intensity program to develop the swimmer as a whole.  It incorporates mental preparation, nutrition, dryland training, and goal setting which complements the training in the pool.

“I want to thank Coach Taber for the opportunity to work with the Britons men's and women's swimming and diving programs,” Eaton said. “I am excited to take this next step into the collegiate world of coaching where I can continue to grow professionally. I am honored to be part of this outstanding competitive program which has become a strong contender in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. I look forward to helping these student-athletes grow and reach their goals as individuals and as a team. I not only want to help them become better swimmers, but help them become well-rounded student-athletes.”
