Coach Alexander Dowley is entering his ninth season at Albion in the 2024-25 school year. He graduated from Jackson County Western High School in 2011 with the winningest record in school history which he still claims. Coach Dowley participated in various United States Tennis Association tournaments in the state, as well as tennis clinics and camps in Michigan (including Albion College Tennis camps) and Florida throughout his high school years. Alex was a four year conference and regional champion, and in his high senior year was named all-state, during the most successful season in school history.
In coach Dowley’s playing years, he trained in Tampa at Saddlebrook with many other juniors and high level athletes. He then returned for two summers to work as a counselor and tennis instructor for advanced juniors and College athletes.Â
For college, Alex took his talents to Illinois to play four years of tennis for Greenville University, where he was 1st team all conference all four years as well as Conference Player of the Year his senior season. He led the Panthers to a school record in wins as well as a bid for Nationals. Dowley graduated in a senior class which was the winningest in school history, and was recently added to the conference All Decade team.Â
After graduating, Coach Dowley returned home and served as assistant coach for his high school alma mater, helping lead the team to back to back top five state finishes. Dowley has worked with players of all levels ranging from beginners to advanced players. Coach Dowley offers private lessons to players of all levels. Runs multiple tennis camps and leagues.Â
