SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Jessica Shaw and Rachel Derocher set their fastest times of the year, Victoria Sochor broke 19 minutes for the first time, and Laura Kelly established a personal best as Albion College finished 3rd out of 8 teams gathered for the Cougar Challenge.
Shaw was the 18th overall runner to finish, crossing the finish line in 18:40. Sochor, getting to the finish in 18:59, was 24th. Derocher was 34th, crossing the line in 19:27.
Megan Wickens and Kelly completed Albion's top 5 with runs of 20:01 and 20:13, respectively.
Albion will enjoy southern California for fall break and it will run in its biggest meet of the season – the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship – Nov. 2 in Holland, Mich.
