HOLLAND, Mich. - Albion College first-year runner Jessica Shaw gained a place on the all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association second team after finishing 16th in the league's cross country championship.
Albion settled for fifth place in the team standings, equaling its performance from the Sept. 28 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree.
Shaw completed her race in 23:10, but Albion Coach Hayden Smith said Megan Wickens turned in the race of the day with a time of 23:48. Victoria Sochor (23:55), Rachel Derocher (24:36), and Emily Morlock (25:12) completed Albion's top five.
"We had a 2-minute gap which is a big improvement from the MIAA Jamboree, but not as good as we had when we ran in San Diego two weeks ago," Smith said.
