KENOSHA, Wis. – Anna Hargrove improved her school record in the 100 backstroke and Albion scored enough points in the 50 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke and 400 IM to hang on to third place in the Carthage Winter Classic.

Hargrove's winning time in the 100 back was 57.12 seconds, improving on the 57.15 she set in the morning swim. She was the runner-up in the 50 free, reaching the finish in 24.49 seconds. Lauren Pawelec was sixth in the sprint freestyle, touching the wall in 25.52.

Albion had three swimmers in the breaststroke final. Lindy Williams and Claire Wittkowski were seventh and eighth, respectively, and Kylene Slocum finished 10th. Julie Okorn was eighth in the IM.

Albion racked up 816 points in the two-day meet to gain a comfortable 158-point margin over fourth-place Alma.
