Lewis Runs Second In MIAA Jamboree

ADRIAN, Mich. – Paul Lewis was the second runner to reach the finish line, but the 2:21 gap between the first and fifth runners cost Albion College an opportunity to challenge Hope College for second place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Cross Country Jamboree.

Albion's 88-point total was 33 higher than Hope's. Calvin College sat atop the team standings with a total of 38.

Lewis and Mitchell Klingler were at the front of the pack for the first couple of miles. Lewis maintained the lead until the last 200 meters. Lewis completed the 8K course in 26:12. Klingler finished sixth, 31 seconds behind Lewis.

Erik Davis was Albion's third runner. He was the 37th runner to finish, posting a time of 28:28.

Don Strite turned in the run of the day for Albion. The senior achieved a personal-best 28:31 to finish 39th. Mitch Clinton was 40th with a time of 28:33.

The Britons' next competition is the Lansing Invitational on Oct. 4.
