ADRIAN, Mich. – The gap between Albion College's scoring runners was nearly four minutes as the Britons finished fifth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Cross Country Jamboree.
Albion's 121 total was four points higher than Saint Mary's College's score. Calvin College (19), Hope College (40), and Alma College (104) were the top three teams.
Jessica Shaw, a first-year athlete, turned in an impressive debut at the conference level. She finished seventh, crossing the finish line in 23:21.
Victoria Sochor and Megan Wickens were separated by two seconds at the finish. Sochor was the 28th runner to the line at 24:22 with Wickens right behind.
Rachel Derocher (25:46) and Theresa Hencsie (27:19) completed Albion's team score.
The Britons' next competition is the Lansing Invitational on Oct. 4.
