MASON, Ohio – Albion had two of the top 19 runners in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship held at the Golf Center at Kings Island.
Jessica Shaw, who achieved all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association status this season, was the fifth runner to reach the finish line. She punched her ticket to the NCAA Division III Championship by completing the 6K course in a school-record time of 21 minutes, 40 seconds.
The progress Shaw has made in her collegiate career is remarkable. She was 36th in the regional meet last year.
Emily Allison, the second first-year runner to finish the race, also gained all-region status. She was the 19th runner overall, reaching the finish in 22:26.2.
Albion finished 12th out of 35 teams in the field. Megan Wickens (23:25), Leanne Wegley (23:56.5), and Allison Snyder (24:12) completed the Britons top five.
