BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Brandon Rincon shot 3-over par 75 Saturday as Albion College shaved 12 strokes off its first round score in the Lou Collins Classic played at the Bedford Valley Country Club.
Albion finished 13th out of 16 teams with a 36-hole total of 648. Owens Community College sat atop the team standings with a 588 total. Calvin (590), Wheaton (606), Hope (611), and Trinity Christian (613) rounded out the top five teams.
Connor Maddalena was Albion's most consistent golfer in the event, finishing with rounds of 80 and 79 to tie for 49th on the individual leader board. Tyler Covell (84-77) and Rincon finished with scores of 161.
Ryan Bomya (80-88) and Matthew Fellows (90-87) contributed scores of 168 and 177, respectively.
Albion will square off against its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals for the first time next Saturday (Sept. 6) when the league squads gather in Alma.
