CHARLOTTE, Mich. – Jessica Shaw and Leanne Wegley were among the top 16 runners to reach the finish line in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Championship.
Shaw, a junior from Allegan, secured all-MIAA first team status for the second consecutive year after finishing third overall. She completed the 6K course in 22:04.6. Lauren Strohbehn, a junior from Calvin College, was the individual champion with a time of 21:30.5.
Wegley, a sophomore from Dublin, Ohio, achieved a place on the all-MIAA second team by reaching the finish line in 23:26.5, good for 16th among individuals.
Morgan Button (24:39.2), Leaha Sinnaeve (25:06.7) and Allison Snyder (25:13.9) completed Albion's top five.
Albion finished sixth in the team standings with a total of 136. Hope College edged Calvin, 42-47, for the championship. Alma College (121), Saint Mary's College (122), and Trine University (128) completed the top five.
Next up for the Britons is the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship in Terre Haute, Ind. That meet is scheduled for Nov. 14.
