ALBION, Mich. – Anna Moore had a good day, setting the Albion College pool record in the 100-yard butterfly, winning the 100 backstroke and swimming on the winning 400 medley relay, in the Britons 188 ½ - 111 ½ dual meet loss to Calvin College.
A first-year student-athlete who prepped at Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Moore completed the butterfly in 58.97 seconds, a time that leaves her four-hundredths of a second off the school standard achieved by Terry Ann Evelyn in 1995. She beat Calvin's Alayna Gallegos to the wall by 4 ½ seconds.
Moore set a time of 59.24 in the backstroke.
Anna Hargrove, Kylene Slocum, Moore and Abigail Slager achieved a winning time of 4:08.47 in the medley relay.
Slocum added 13 points in individual events, winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.31 and finishing second in the 400 individual medley (5:06.28).
Albion also received runner-up performances from Haley DeFeyter in the 1,000 freestyle (11:43.09), Katie Ferrero in the 200 butterfly (2:24.89), Lauren Pawelec in the sprint freestyle events (25.74 in the 50 and 57.09 in the 100), and Hargrove in the 200 backstroke (2:18.42).
Albion will swim at home again Jan. 23 when it challenges Hope College. The first event is set to start at 1 p.m. inside the Dean Aquatic Center.
