OLIVET, Mich. – Anna Moore continued her impressive first season at the collegiate level, turning in first place performances in two events, as Albion College split its Saturday dual meets in women's swimming & diving.
Albion overmatches Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Olivet College, 222-49. The College of Wooster handed Albion a 165-120 setback.
Moore completed the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.54, winning the event by 2.3 seconds over Wooster's Maggie Layde. Moore also took first place in the 200 backstroke, touching the wall in 2:11.59.
Moore also helped Albion to first place in the 200 freestyle relay. Joined by Kylene Slocum, Anna Hargrove and Lauren Pawelec, the Britons achieved a time of 1:41.79.
Sarah Kilbride gained Albion's other individual first place performance, leading a one-two finish in the 200 individual medley. Kilbride finished in 2:19.23, ahead of teammate Mary Noble 2:20.66. Kilbride also scored a runner-up finish in the 100 breaststroke.
Noble also finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:02.80) and third in the 200 freestyle (2:04.77).
In other swimming events, Katie Ferrero was second in the 1,650 freestyle (17:52.44), Haley Wallis and Jourden Burke were second and third in the 100 backstroke, Abigail Slager and Madi Vaive were second and third in the 50 freestyle, and Slocum, Camilla Manrique and Syriah Dobis were second, third and fourth in the 100 freestyle.
In diving, Lauren Young achieved a personal-best score of 197.35 in the 1-meter competition.
Albion will celebrate the senior members of the team Feb. 5 when it swims against Olivet in what will be a non-league dual meet. The first event is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. inside the Dean Aquatic Center.
