GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Albion College is celebrating a second place finish in a quadrangular swimming & diving meet against Calvin College, Carthage College and Ohio Northern University.

Head Coach Jake Taber said the Britons had never defeated Carthage at the meet, until now. Calvin sat atop the field with 1,155 points, while the Britons edged Carthage by a point (861-860).

Albion was strong at the end of the third session of the meet. First-year swimmer Hanna Paoletti swam to a runner-up finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle, with junior Katie Ferrero coming in fourth.

After that swim, Rileigh Eding came in third in the 100 freestyle, three Britons scored in the 200 breaststroke as Amanda Quitos was second, Kaitlind Hooper was third and Sarah Kilbride was fifth, Alexandra Horman and Natalie Seifert were second and third, respectively, in the 200 butterfly, Lauren Young and Marisa DeCamp were third and fourth, respectively, in 3-meter diving, and the Britons were third in the 400 freestyle relay (Eding, Horman, Ferrero and Nicole McCann).

"I'm proud of the way we finished after three sessions," Taber said. "The 200 breaststroke was pivotal and Hanna and Katie were very good in the mile."

In the morning session, Horman added a runner-up finish in the 100 fly, Anna Moore was third in the 100 backstroke and the Britons were second in the 800 freestyle relay (Ferrero, Eding, Horman and Moore).

Albion is looking forward to compete at home for the first time this season when it dives into the Dean Aquatic Center next Saturday for an 11 a.m. dual meet against Hope College.
