Swimmers complete season's first half

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – Rileigh Eding and Samantha Swingewood produced second place performances in their individual events as the Albion College swimmers reached the midpoint of the season on the final day of competition in the Wabash College Invitational.

Albion was the third-best Division III team in the scoring. Birmingham Southern College (2,345) and DePauw University (2,051) finished ahead of Albion's 1,961 total.

Eding sprinted to second place in the 100-yard freestyle (52.38 seconds), and Swingewood was second in the 200 butterfly (2:09.51).

Also for the Britons on Sunday:

  • Anna Moore swam to third in the 200 backstroke (2:08.32)
  • Hannah Erickson also represented the Britons in the 'A' final in the freestyle, finishing sixth (53.61)
  • Kaitlind Hooper was sixth in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.12)
  • Alexandra Horman was sixth in the 200 butterfly (2:11.61)

Albion will take a break from competition until Jan. 11 when it dives in against Calvin College for a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet.
