Swimmers making final push to the MIAA meet

HOLLAND, Mich. – Rileigh Eding continues to dominate the freestyle events, while Samantha Swingewood displayed her mental strength with first place performances in the 200-yard butterfly and 400 individual medley Saturday.

The duo led Albion College in a 180-107 loss in a dual meet at Hope College.

Eding set a time to 24.56 seconds to swim past a pair of Hope sprinters in the 50. She did the same in the 100, touching the wall in 53.67 seconds.

Swingewood set winning times of 2:10.79 in the 200 fly and 4:45.09 in the 400 IM.

Anna Moore was the runner up in the backstroke events, but her times (59 seconds in the 100 and 2:08.92 in the 200) were outstanding according to the coaches. Hannah Erickson also performed well in a second place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:58.28).

Albion will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich., on Friday for a dual meet against Eastern Michigan University.
