Valiant comeback falls short in MSOC Semifinals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A heartbreaking late comeback fell short, as the Albion College men's soccer team saw its season come to a close in a 3-2 loss in the MIAA Semifinals to Calvin University.

Calvin exploded to a 3-0 lead, but the Britons scored twice in the second half to cut the deficit to one point. One of Calvin's three goals came via a penalty kick early on. The second of the half came in the final minute, as the hosts held a 2-0 lead after 45 minutes of play.

Albion's season comes to a close with a 9-7-3 overall record. Senior captain Carter Peek assisted on both goals in the loss.

Alex Carre-Font got the Britons on the board in the 68th minute off a pass from Peek. Freshman Jonathan Euceda netted a beautiful bicycle goal to put Albion to within a goal. Euceda's shot came off another Peek pass.

Despite looks at the end, the Brits were unable to find the equalizer.

The winning season is the first for Albion since 2006, and the nine wins is the most in a season since 2016.

Anton Favre made six saves for the Brits.
