Palise takes second, women wrestle at Adrian Invitational

ADRIAN, Mich. – Backed by a second place finish by Hannah Palise, the Albion College women's wrestling team was on the mats for the second time this season. Palise was one of many talented freshmen on the roster who had successful days at the open.

Competing at 136, Palise pinned her first four opponents of the day to earn a spot in the championship bout. Pins in 1:03, 1:46, 1:20 and :35 sent the freshman to the final match 4-0. Palise dropped to a tough North Central opponent, but took second overall in her weight.

Danielle Ruiz won four straight after losing her opening match to win the consolation bracket. At 130, the freshman won by tech fall twice before pinning her final two opponents in 1:27 and 3:50.

Sophomore Jayla Oberst went 1-2 on the day at 116. She earned a 13-0 tech fall win in her second match.

Hannah Arledge was 2-2 at 136. She picked up a 12-3 victory and a pin in just 55 seconds.

At 109, Gabby Motz fell in the consolation championship match.

The Britons will return to action on Nov. 20 at the Albion College Invitational. Women's matches begin at 9 a.m.
